After their game on Tuesday got postponed due to weather, the Waunakee boys’ soccer team had just one varsity match this week.

On Thursday, they traveled to Reedsburg for a game that ended up in Waunakee’s most lopsided win of the season.

Waunakee 10,

Reedsburg 0

The Warriors dominated this game from the start. Waunakee did an effective job of patiently moving the ball around and keeping possession. In the 12th minute, Cole Kettner moved the ball up the left side and hit Sam Acker in the middle, who put it over the goalie and in.

Ten minutes later, Acker put in his second goal of the game to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Throughout the game, Waunakee did a great job of working to the corners and earning corner kicks. In the 23rd minute, James Bradley hit a nice corner that Jacob Lenerz bodied in for goal number three.

Several minutes later, Nathan Dresen got a through ball to Bradley who made enough contact on the ball to get it past the goalie for a 4-0 lead.

Reedsburg did mount a little pressure late in the half; they bounced one shot off the post and Nick Ohm made a high save on another.

Five minutes before halftime, a Lenerz corner led to a hand ball in the box on Reedsburg. Nathan Dresen beat the goalie on the penalty kick in to make it a 5-0 game at halftime.

The second half saw more of the same, as Chris Laack quickly added to Waunakee’s lead. Minutes later, Nathan Mais worked to the right corner and sent a great cross to the feet of Jacob Mouille for a 7-0 lead. Next, Mais took a punt from Ohm, eluded a few defenders, and hit Acker, who completed his hat trick for an 8-0 lead.

Brennen Miller then put in a rebound for goal number nine. To finish things off, Hudson Miller worked his way up the middle and blasted a shot off the goalie. Kettner buried the rebound for a 10-0, which resulted in the game being called at 76:37.

Waunakee’s record now stands at 7-2-3 (3-0-1 Badger North). They played another Badger North contest against Beaver Dam on Tuesday, Oct. 2, the results of which were unavailable for this week’s edition.

After a pair of games over the weekend against Kimberly and Neenah, the Warriors will have a showdown with first-place DeForest on Tuesday. The winner will be in the driver’s seat for a conference title.

JV White

Waunakee 2,

Baraboo 0

Despite the rain and poor field conditions the JV White was able to win 2-0 against Baraboo. The first goal was an own goal, and the second came at the 54-minute mark when Dmitriy Govorukha was found the back of the net.
